Rob Rudin: washboard, drums, percussion

Robbie Phillips introduced me to Rob Rudin, a music educator and an excellent, multi-talented percussionist. Rob plays trap set (drums), but I really love it when he rips it up on the rhythm bones and washboard.

Rob has toured with Circus Smirkus, Grammy nominee Adrienne Young, and Norwegian Cruise Lines. He was also musical director for America's Got Talent winner Rudi Macaggi. He is a member of the percussive organizations Washboards International and The Rhythm Bones Society. For the past several years, Rob has been a member of the Boston-based, radical-traditional group Einstein's Little Homunculus, playing contra dances and concerts and working as musician, singer, songwriter and producer. ELH has released three CDs.

Rob does a lot of work with kids. He and I have performed and led workshops together at the Boston Children’s Museum. Rob teaches percussion at Cambridge Music Center and the Cape Cod Conservatory. He founded the New England Jug Band Kids in the Lexington Public Schools, which he directed for three years. He holds a Masters in Education and certificates in Orff Schulwerk and Kodaly (children's music education), and Kalani Drum Circle facilitation.
